• THE SURROUNDINGS •

Our hotel is situated in the center of Berzocana. The village has some 700 inhabitants, and is located in the region "las Villuercas", in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura. It is a quiet village, endowed with trade, places of leisure and above all surrounded with an exceptional and exquisite nature in a mountainous zone with Mediterranean forest, offering you extraordinary landscapes. Truly a paradise for bird- and nature watching.
- Flora: Very well conserved Mediterranean forest. Holm. Oak. Heath.
- Fauna: A wide variation of birds of pray. Boar. Deer. Weasel. Lynx. Badger. Vulture. And many more.

In the area surrounding Berzocana are beautiful places that are well worth visiting, amongst these, in the village itself and only few steps away from the hotel, is the village's church. Gothic style, and a work of great beauty and big proportions. A reflection of the great and powerful history that this village holds.
Other places that one could visit within pleasant walking distance are the Ermita de la Concepción and the Roman Bridge.
There are ample possibilities for trekking too in the area and we can recommend charming routes on horse back, or a donkey, or by bicycle. Be sure you will be in good hands and will see beautiful places.
If you would decide to make trips to the surroundings, we advise to do so accompanied by our guides. We can inform you about many possibilities, amongst which the caves with wall paintings which are located inside some of the mountains that surround our village. This trip is brought to perfection with the addition of a visit to the archaeological Visigothic tombs, which are in a very good state of conservation.

If you like to combine your stay with a local fiesta full with original yet lively traditions then come and visit us in the second weekend of August. For sure it will give you a good "after taste".

Pleasant visits, places and routes within las Villuercas and the province of Cáceres are:
- Monastery of Guadalupe, 38 km. Full of art of great quality from the XIV centuries to the XVI. Very related with the conquest of the Americas and the colonization.
- City of Cáceres, 130 km. With its magnificent old town center.
- Trujillo, 85 km. Monumental town.
- Cañamero. Visit the bodegas and their wine cellars.
